PFE is a free for non-commercial use software that is dedicated to build 3D text. The program can load any true-type font you like and render full parametrized 3D text. You can set the lighting of the scene in real-time and modify the numerous parameters that define the text such as the level of detail of the mesh, the font, the bevelling or the materials. The program is user friendly and easy to use. You can start creating your first 3D graphic by entering the text and play with the different light functions and angles, turn and spin the text with your mouse, change the camera positions. The results can be saved as PFE file for later editing, JPG file to use on the web, VRML 3D models or OpenGl source code. The program has only basic documentation, so it`s a bit of a “learn as you go” process. (The save to JPG function can be found under the “Render” menu item - we had some trouble finding it…).
